The Story Behind Island Canvas

Island Canvas started with a single place—and a feeling that never left.

My husband and I were married on the island of St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. It was more than just a destination—it was the beginning of a deep connection to the islands that continues to shape everything I create today.

There’s something about island life that stays with you.

The rhythm is slower. The air feels different. The colors are more alive.

And the water—endless shades of blue, constantly moving, always changing—has a way of pulling you in.

Where It All Comes From

Every time we return, I experience it all over again.

The salty air.

The ocean breeze.

The sound of waves meeting the shore.

The life just beneath the surface.

I’ve always been drawn to the water—not just looking at it, but feeling like I’m part of it. Watching the movement, the reflections, the sea life below… it’s an entirely different world.

And I try to hold onto those moments the best way I know how.

From Moments to Paintings

Each trip leaves me with hundreds of photos.

Not just snapshots—but references. Inspiration. Future paintings.

I take them knowing that when I return home, I’ll be able to step back into those moments through my work. Each painting becomes a way to relive a specific feeling—the light, the color, the energy of that exact place and time.

These aren’t imagined scenes.

They’re real experiences, translated onto canvas.

Why I Create

I don’t just paint what the islands look like. I paint what they feel like.

The goal is simple: when someone brings one of these pieces into their home, it does more than fill a wall. It shifts the atmosphere. It creates a sense of calm, escape, and connection.

Maybe it reminds you of a place you’ve been.

Maybe it takes you somewhere you’ve never been—but want to go.

Either way, it becomes personal.

Bringing the Islands Home

Not everyone can wake up to the ocean.

But you can bring a piece of it into your space.

Island Canvas is about more than coastal artwork—it’s about capturing a feeling that’s hard to describe but instantly recognizable once you’ve experienced it.

And sharing that with others.

From My Life to Your Walls

Every piece begins with a real moment—something seen, felt, and experienced.

And every piece is created with the hope that when it reaches you, it becomes part of your story too.

Because in the end—
You’re not just buying art.

You’re bringing home a piece of a place that never really leaves you.
